Michael McIntyre began his martial arts training under Dennis Wiley in 1985. During this time Master Wiley had been affiliated with Master Y.S. Kang and Master Y.K. Kim. Throughout his career he has achieved/ received many ranks, awards and certificates. At one time he was the Assistant Tournament Director for the American Martial Arts Association for Master Kang. He is also a certified instructor and referee. In March of 2001 he tested and passed his 4th Dan testing. He has also participated and placed in many tournaments in Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, and Tennessee.
In January of 1997, with the support of Master Wiley, Mr. McIntyre started a Tae Kwon Do school at the Downtown (Louisville, Ky) YMCA. He was the chief instructor of this school until August of 2002. Starting from scratch, today the Downtown YMCA has a vibrant school. There is a Children's and Adult classes. In this time frame, the school promoted 3 black belts with the support of Master Dennis Wiley. Today, Mr. J. Holmes who is Mr. McIntyre's senior belt is the chief instructor for the school.
Currently Mr. McIntyre is pursuing a PhD in Electrical Engineering at Clemson University. He is continuing his education and training in the martial arts in many different ways. He is still very much involved with the both the Bardstown and Downtown YMCA schools.
